Tertiary entrance

The information on this page relates to students who will be graduating from school in 2018 and 2019, i.e. current Year 11 and 12 students. For information about the new QCE system starting with Year 11 students in 2019, visit the QCAA website.

An Overall Position (OP) is the usual pathway for Year 12 students to gain entrance into university, TAFE or other tertiary institutions, but many other options are available.

If you’re not eligible for an OP but wish to gain entry to a tertiary course, you can apply to Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) for a selection rank based on schedules that are specifically developed for this purpose.

Your teachers or school guidance officer can help you understand the different tertiary entrance pathways and the best options for you.
